CONCORDIA, Kan. - The Cloud County Community College volleyball team has drawn the number five seed in this year's NJCAA Plains District Tournament bracket and will face off against number-four seeded Kansas City Kansas Community College in the opening round hosted by Johnson County Community College on Friday, April 2nd.
The CCCC vs KCKCC will be the second match of the day in Overland Park, Kansas as top-seed and host Johnson County will take on number-eight seeded Coffeyville Community College in a 1 p.m. matchup to kick off the afternoon. Cloud County's matchup with the Blue Devils will start 40 minutes after the conclusion of the first match with the winners of the first two matchups meeting 60 minutes after the conclusion of the first match with an NJCAA Division II Volleyball National Tournament berth on the line.
In the other side of the bracket, number-two seed Highland Community College will host number-seven seed Fort Scott in an 11 AM matchup with number-three seed Neosho County taking on number-six seed Cowley in the second match of the day with the two winning teams squaring off for the remaining national tournament berth out of NJCAA Region VI.
Cloud County split their season series with both the Blue Devils and the host Cavaliers while sweeping a pair of matches from the Red Ravens as part of their 14-8 overall record. KCKCC would end up handing Cloud County a three-set home defeat in the season opener for the T-Birds as CCCC would wind up avenging the loss later in the year with a five-set thriller in Kansas City. Both Johnson County and Cloud County would win on their home court over the other while both of CCCC's matches with Coffeyville would last three sets which includes a three-set win this past Monday down in Coffeyville for the T-Birds.
All three matches from the Plains District "A" Tournament being hosted by Johnson County will be live-streamed on the JCCC YouTube Channel which can be found below. Per Johnson County fan policies that have been in effect throughout the season, only those that have been put on the JCCC "pass list" will be allowed entry into the facility and no tickets will be sold for the event.
