Box Score SALINA, Kan. – Looking to finish the week on a high note, the Cloud County Community College volleyball team would earn a four-set road victory over the Kansas Wesleyan University JV team in Salina, Kansas on Saturday, September 28th.
The win allows CCCC to move to 14-3 overall and finish the week by winning two out of three matches while earning their first true road victory of the year.
It would be the first time this week that the T-Birds would win the first set of the match, claiming a 25-20 victory thanks in part to a five-kill opening set from sophomore Haven Hamilton. KWU would even things up at one set a piece following a 25-21 victory over Cloud County in the second set, but it would be the T-Birds who would reclaim the lead in the third set with a commanding 25-10 victory. A closely contested fourth set would see CCCC manage to come away with a 25-23 set victory to avoid a winner-take-all fifth set as the T-Birds would get back on track and into the win column once again.
Setting things up for Cloud County on the offensive side of things would be freshman Riley Bontrager as the Seneca, Kansas native would finish with 49 assists while Delaney Herold would lead all players with 18 kills in the match. Just one day after seeing the T-Birds commit 41 attack errors, CCCC would clean things up to commit just 26 to overcome 16 service errors.
