T-Birds struggle from the field in 93-73 road loss to Pratt

Box Score

PRATT, Kansas — The shooting woes that have plagued the Cloud County men's basketball team in the past return Saturday in a 93-73 road loss to Pratt Community College.

Cloud County (10-7 overall, 4-4 KJCCC) was limited to 36 percent shooting from the floor (22-of-61) and were just 2-of-19 (11 percent) from 3-point range.

"We're not going to win basketball games until we start hitting shots. That's two games in a row where we just couldn't hit shots," said Cloud County head coach, Jordan Altman. "Teams are packing it in and there's no real reason to guard us from the 3-point line right now. Until we give someone a reason to guard us on the perimeter, teams are going to continue to pack the paint against us."

Pratt (8-8 overall, 1-6 KJCCC) shot 51 percent from the floor Saturday, going 29-of-57 and 11-of-24 (46 percent) from 3-point range.

The Beavers owned a 42-28 lead at the half and had the lead up to 20 on a handful of occasions before the T-Birds made their run back.

Cloud County worked the deficit down to 51-45 with 13:40 remaining, but were unable to consistently string together stops or create enough offense to get over the hump.

"We went on a big run there to begin the second half to get back in the game and kind of let off the gas again," Altman said. "We had a good run there, went to the bench, and let it slip."

Redshirt sophomore Alvin Thompson again paced the Cloud County offense, finishing with a team-high 20 points on 6-of-11 shooting.

Freshman forwards Edoardo Del Cadia and Iyen Enaruna joined him in double-figures with 14 points and 11 points, respectively.

Del Cadia also added a team-high eight rebounds in his 26 minutes.

Redshirt freshman Nysir Scott followed with seven rebounds to go with eight points and a pair of steals.

The T-Birds will look to bounce back when they wrap up their current two-game road trip with a showdown against Butler Community College at 1 p.m. on Monday.
