Box Score

CONCORDIA, Kansas — The Cloud County Community College baseball team fell by the final score of 9-2 on Tuesday during a single, nine-inning contest against a red hot non-conference foe in Southeast Community College.

The visiting Storm (12-6 overall) entered the day winners of 10 straight games. With the loss, the T-Birds dropped to 7-12 overall and remained 2-6 in the KJCCC West.

Cloud County struggled to get the bats going Tuesday as it was limited to six hits. Cloud got on the scoreboard on a two-run home run in the eighth inning by sophomore shortstop Aidan Huggins that scored fellow sophomore Ryan Krolikowski.

The home run for Huggins was his second this season. He finished 1-for-3 with 2 RBI and a walk on the afternoon.

Tuesday was a bullpen day for the T-Birds, who used seven different arms in preparation for this week's four-game set against KJCCC West opponent, Pratt Community College.

Freshman right-hander Corben Peters got the start, allowing one run in his two innings of work while striking out three.

Sophomore left-hander Daniel Bachura pitched 2/3 scoreless innings, while redshirt freshman Cohl Bohannan and sophomore Ryan Brown were also bright spots on the day as they each delivered scoreless appearances.

Bohannan pitched a clean seventh inning in his collegiate debut with a strikeout and Brown finished the game on the mound with two scoreless innings of work, limiting the Storm to a pair of hits and recording a strikeout.

Sophomore third baseman Blake Manuel, who entered the game in the seventh inning as a defensive replacement, reached base twice with a single in the seventh and a walk in the ninth.

Cloud County will aim to get back on track Thursday when it begins its four-game series against Pratt with a road doubleheader. Game times are scheduled for 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
