HILLSBORO, Missouri — The Cloud County Community College volleyball team wrapped up its final road trip of the regular season over the weekend, going 0-3 at the Jefferson College Invitational.

The two-day, con-conference tournament was the final tune-up for the T-Birds (4-25 overall, 1-13 KJCCC) as they begin the final week of conference play at 6:30 p.m. Monday at home against Butler Community College.

Cloud County opened the tournament Friday evening against Illinois Central College. Sophomore hitter Irem Bat had a big night as she set a career high with four solo blocks and tied her season high with 14 kills, including eight in Set Three alone. Unfortunately, the T-Birds couldn't get over the hump to take a set as they fell 25-15, 25-21 and 25-22.

Fellow sophomore Elizabeth Nobert followed with six kills. Freshman setter Kamryn Stark produced all 25 assists for the T-Birds and freshman libero Britt Michaelis was solid in the back row with 15 digs.

Cloud County concluded the tournament Saturday with a pair of tough losses against Vincennes University (25-14, 25-14 and 25-19) and tournament hosts, Jefferson College (25-17, 25-12 and 25-20).

Sophomore middle hitter Katelyn Ruth led all T-Birs with seven kills against Vincennes University, while Nobert and redshirt sophomore Drew Mann each added five kills.

Mann would turn around and led Cloud County in its tournament final against Jefferson College with 11 kills, while sophomore defensive specialist Brooke Baird tallied a team-high 13 digs.

The T-Birds will look to bounce back when they return home Monday to host Butler Community College; the first of two home matches this week for Cloud County to round out the regular season.

Cloud County will be leading a food drive Monday to benefit the Helping Hands ministry, which will assist client visits to the food bank through the Manna House of Prayer and the Sister of St. Joseph, individuals out of food stamps or who do not qualify, and to people in other counties who may not have a food bank of their own.

The items in need include: dry pasta and rice, boxed potatoes, peanut butter, dry cereal, spaghetti sauce, canned vegetables and meats, soup, boxed meals, jelly, oatmeal, mac and chees, canned fruits and beans.

Donations will be collected at the admission tables when fans enter Arley Bryant Gymnasium.
