Box Score 2 Iola, KS- The Cloud County Community College Thunderbird men fell behind early and never got back into it in an 89-61 loss at Allen County on Saturday afternoon.
Cloud's cold shooting carried over from Wednesday night as they shot just 28% from the field in the first half, digging themselves a 47-21 hole at halftime.
The T-Birds would heat up in the second half and play even with the Red Devils for the last 20 minutes but it was not enough to overcome the slow start and the T-Birds fell 89-61.
Sophomore Demonte Ojinnaka left the Coffeyville game on Wednesday night with an ankle injury and did not return. Ojinnaka started, and played 18 minutes. He scored 3 points on just two field goal attempts.
Cloud County allowed Allen County 27 points on turnovers on the night.
Freshman Devonte Dixon started for the first time since December 5th and led the T-Birds with 14 points. Dixon connected on 2 of 3 from deep and went a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line.
Aamahne Santos and Henry Cornelious each added 9 points in the loss.
The loss drops the T-Birds to 8-10 overall and 1-6 in Jayhawk Conference play. They will remain on the road next week as they travel to Colby to play the Trojans. Colby is 11-6, 4-3.
