Box Score 2 Playing without two of their top players, the Thunderbird men finally got some shots to go down against a talented Seward County team. However, the Saints drained 13 three point shots and shot 55% from the field in a 101-73 rout of the T-Birds.
Cloud shot 42% from the field and drained 9-18 from deep for 50% but ran into a buzzsaw with the Saints.
Seward is averaging 94 points per game on the season. The trio of Saint guards, Niam Stevenson, Charles Beauregard, and Marcus Mathieu each went for over 20 points and combined for 64 points on the night.
Despite hitting 7-11 threes and 13-15 from the free throw line in the first half the T-Birds still trailed 60-40 at the intermission. Seward hit ten first half threes and shot 69% in the half.
Cloud got a big night from Devonte Dixon. Dixon has now scored in double figures in each of the last two contests. Dixon has struggled from the field all season but hit four of seven three point attempts as a part of his team high 18 points.
Duby Maduegbunam came off the bench to score 16 for the T-Birds as well.
Cloud out rebounded the Saints and scored more points from the free throw line than Seward on the night. Both are categories that have plagued the T-Birds as of late.
Point guard Aamahne Santos and leading rebounder Cardarius Williams did not play in the contest.
The T-Birds will spend the week preparing for next Saturday as they welcome the Hutch Blue Dragons to Arley Bryant Gymnasium. Hutch was ranked #1 in the country at one point but has recently lost three of their last four games. Tip-off with the Blue Dragons is set for 8:00pm.
