Cloud Comes From Behind To Beat Garden City

Box Score

It wasn't pretty, but it was a win. The T-Birds came alive at just the right time, to begin their comeback as they stormed back to beat Garden City in five sets. On the back-end of a roadtrip and coming off of an emotional loss at Seward the night before, the match against Garden City was your most typical "trap game."

Garden City entered the match with an overall record of 1-22. However, the Busters have hung tough with some conference opponents in the unfriendly confines of the Dennis Perryman Athletic Complex in Garden City. The T-Birds dropped the first set 20-25 and quickly found themselves down 1-0. Cloud was unable to rebound in the second set as they dropped it 19-25, falling behind 0-2.

Despite being on their third road contest of the week and finding themselves down 2-0, the T-Birds regrouped and began to rally. The third set was a gutsy hard fought battle and Cloud finished strong to capture momentum. They won the set 25-20. Riding the wave they created they were then able to win the 4th set 25-18, and made quick work of the 5th by the score of 15-7.

It was not how Lady T-Birds's coach Molly Skocny drew it up, but it still goes in the win category. The victory moved the T-Birds to 11-7 on the year and 5-3 in league play. Cloud finished a tough week 2-1 with victories over Highland and Garden City. They dropped a hard fought battle to Seward County.
