Box Score Cloud County and Seward met for the third time this season in the semifinals of the Region VI Playoffs in Hutch. All four matches were close from start to finish but Seward was able to take the match three games to one by the scores of 25-20, 23-25, 25-21, 25-21.
Seward jumped out of the gates and took a 5-1 lead in the first set. Cloud regrouped and battled back to tie the game at 11. Cloud would take their only lead of the set at 17-16. The Saints then rattled off a 9-3 run to take control of the set and finish it 25-20.
The second set was a game of runs. Cloud started sluggishly again and fell behind 0-5 early on. McKenna White helped bring Cloud back with back to back kills and the T-Birds tied it at 7. Cloud grabbed their first lead at 20-19 as a part of a 8-1 Thunderbird run. The Saints made a charge at the end but Cloud held Seward off and evened the match with a 25-23 second set victory.
Seward pulled away late in the 3rd set to win 25-21. The set was a back and forth affair as well. Cloud got within 1 at 19-20, but Seward closed on a 5-2 run to take a 2-1 match lead.
Cloud jumped out to an early lead in the 4th. They grabbed 9-5 lead to start the set. It was the first time Cloud jumped out on top all day, falling behind early in the previous three sets. The Saints battled back to gain their first lead at 11-10. Seward would push the lead to 17-14 before Cloud stormed back and took an 18-17 lead. Seward would then rattle off four straight to jump up 21-18 and eventually finished the Thunderbirds off 25-21.
It was a balanced attack for the Thunderbirds. Cara Flach had 9 kills to lead the T-Birds. Gaby da Silva and Jocelyn Marten finished with 8 kills each. Jaci Kolm had 33 assists.
Cloud finished their season at 22-12, 11-5. The 22 wins were the most wins in the rally scoring era (2000) for Cloud County Volleyball.
