Box Score Survive and advance. The Cloud County Community College Volleyball team swept Barton County for the third time this season to move on to the Region VI Semifinals.
The T-Birds will advance to the final four where they will be met by #2 seed Seward County. Cloud and Seward squared off in a heated battle in Concordia on October 26. Seward won the match 3-2. The Saints also beat the T-Birds early in the season in Liberal.
Cloud jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the first set and set the tone for the night. They didn't look back as they dominated the Cougars in the first. Cara Flach and Jocelyn Marten ended the set with a big block to end it at 25-9
The T-Birds continued their momentum into the second set jumping out to a 7-1 lead on the Cougars. Barton did not go away though. They stormed back to tie the game at 13 but were unable to get over the hump as Cloud regained the lead and pulled away to take the second set 25-20.
Barton jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the third set causing Head Coach Molly Skocny to call a timeout. Cloud then rallied back and took their first lead at 8-7. The game remained tight throughout and Cloud eventually put the Cougars away 25-21.
Cloud got a big night from Sophomore Jocelyn Marten. The Onaga, KS native had 11 kills and 2 blocks on the night. Gaby da Silva returned to the lineup tonight after missing the previous two games with an ankle injury. Da Silva had 9 kills on the night.
The Thunderbirds improved their record breaking season record to 22-11. They will face the Saints of Seward County on Sunday November 8th at 4:00pm in Hutchinson.
