Cloud Pummels Butler in Sweep

Box Score

It seemed over the minute it started. Cloud County raced to a 20-1 advantage in the first set of action at Arley Bryant Gymnasium Wednesday night and never looked back.

The T-Birds have now won six of their last seven matches and are sitting in third place in the Jayhawk West. The sweep was the third consecutive sweep after making quick work of Dodge City and Barton County recently as well.

Cloud jumped out to a huge lead and finished the Grizzlies off in the first set 25-4. Butler showed some resilience in the second set hanging with the T-Birds, but dropping the second set 25-15. A 25-14 third set victory would seal the deal and move the Thunderbirds to 14-7 overall and 8-3 in Conference play.

Cloud was led once again by Gaby da Silva. The sophomore from Igarape, Brazil, finished with 10 kills and five blocks on the evening. She also added 8 digs. Jaci Kolm has remained steady as the T-Birds setter. She had 26 assists and remains second in the Jayhawk Conference in assists per set.

Haley Falk had a good night. She totalled 20 digs, with no receiving errors. Falk was just honored by the Jayhawk Conference as the Conference player of the week. This was the second time she has earned this honor in 2015.

Cloud will be in action at the Northeastern Oklahoma Invitational this weekend. Friday they will play Allen County Community College. Saturday they will play Kaskaskia College from Centralia, Illinois.
