Volleyball Continues to Roll With Sweep of Barton County

The Cloud County Volleyball team raced to their third straight Jayhawk West victory and fifth in their last six games with a three set victory over Barton County. Cloud still remains in third place in the Jayhawk West behind Seward County and Hutchinson. 

The T-Birds swept both matches this week including the win over Dodge City on Wednesday. The victory over Barton was the second sweep of the Cougars on the season. Cloud swept the second matchup with scores of 25-20, 25-22, 25-16. 

It was sophomores Laura Sudbeck and McKenna White leading the charge for the T-Birds. Sudbeck and White each had ten kills. White currently leads Region VI in kill % at .444. Jaci Kolm had 27 assists. She currently rankes second in the region in assists per set at 9.87. 

Cloud is currently 9-1 in true road matches this season. They dropped two neutral matches in an early season tournament at Northeastern Junior College. 

The Jayhawk West is still up for grabs but Hutchinson and Seward County have a sizable lead. However, Cloud still has matches with both Seward and Hutch late in the season. Hutch has a lead in the West at 8-0 (17-3 overall) and Seward is 8-1 (19-9 overall). Seward has been hot as of late winning ten straight including a 3-1 victory over the T-Birds on September 30th. Cloud is in third place at 7-3 (13-7 overall).

The T-Birds return home on Wednesday October 7th and will host the Butler County Grizzlies at 6:30 pm.
