T-Birds Drop Road Contest at Central CC

Box Score

After winning ten straight matches through September and early October, the Cloud County Volleyball team has now lost three matches in a row. However, all three of the losses have come to formidable opponents in Hutchinson, Iowa Western, and Central CC.

Cloud traveled to Columbus, Nebraska on Saturday to take on the Central Community College Raiders. The Raiders were 25-11 and playing their final home game of the season. It was all Raiders from start to finish as they swept the T-Birds, 25-8, 25-19, 25-21.

The T-Birds had just 28 kills on the day which is the second lowest total of the season. They had a kill percentage of  .125%,  their lowest of the season. Gaby da Silva had 8 kills and McKenna White had 6. Jaci Kolm had 25 assists.

Luckily for the Thunderbirds, this past week's losses to Iowa Western and Central do not affect the conference standings. They will look to regroup as the Seward County Saints will come to town for a match with big Region VI seeding implications on Monday.

Cloud will need to beat Seward County in four or less sets to have a chance at earning the second seed. A win would tie the Thunderbirds and Saints in second place. Because Seward won the first matchup in four sets, Cloud would need to win in four to have a chance at winning the tiebreakers. A sweep of the Saints would put Cloud in second place. The match starts at 6:30pm on Monday.
