Box Score The streak ends. After rattling off ten straight victories, the Cloud County Community College Volleyball team finally lost. The defeat came at the hands of Hutchinson Community College who is currently leading the Jayhawk West and ranked #20 in the nation.
It was the Thunderbirds first loss since September 23rd when they lost at Seward County.
The T-Birds came out firing to take the first set, but Hutch quickly rebounded to claim the next three. Cloud lost the match by the scores of 15-25, 25-11, 25-16, and 25-17.
McKenna White, Gaby da Silva, and Laura Sudbeck all registered 10 kills for the Thunderbirds.
Jaci Kolm had 37 assists for the Thunderbirds. Haley Falk hd 31 digs.
The loss drops Cloud's overall record to 20-8 and 10-4 in league play. The T-Birds needed a win at Hutch to remain alive in the conference title race.
Hutch appears to be running away from the rest of the Jayhawk Conference at 11-1. The 3rd place Thunderbirds did receive help from Pratt as the Beavers knocked off Seward County today. Seward has a half game lead on the T-Birds. Cloud has played one more conference match than the Saints to this point. Seward will come to Concordia for a matchup with the T-Birds on Octbober 26. Pratt is in 4th place at 8-4.
Things do not get any easier for the Thunderbirds as they will host Iowa Western Community College on Wednesday in Concordia. Iowa Western is 25-5 and was recently ranked 7th in NJCAA before falling from the rankings this week.
