The Cloud County Community College wrestling team split two home duals with a 30-24 win over Northeastern Junior College and a 31-12 defeat to the Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa Mavericks on Friday, December 5.

The T-Birds fell behind 18-9 in its opening dual, with their only contested win a 10-6 decision victory for freshman Drew Sterrett over Juan Carlos Villarreal at 149 lbs. Sophomore Jacob Vasquez scored a 16-1 technical fall victory over Tuck Wray in his 165 lbs. match, before the Northeastern Plainsmen extended their lead to ten at 24-14 on a forfeit at 174 lbs. Freshman Dionisio Holguin swung the momentum back in the T-Birds' favor in the 184 lbs. match, winning by a 17-2 technical fall over sophomore Rene Perez Jr. Freshman David Holguin added a 26-10 technical fall win over freshman Nathaniel Lowe at 197 lbs. Cloud County went on to take the dual 30-24 following a first period fall for freshman Brayden Hill over sophomore Ryan Escamilla at 285 lbs.

Hill, David Holguin and Vasquez picked up where they left off after the first dual. Against Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa, Hill captured a 17-2 technical fall victory over sophomore Christian Clark. Holguin battled to a 7-1 decision win over freshman Tyzel Zachry. Vasquez wrestled his way to a 4-0 decision over sophomore Waleed Khairi. Cloud County freshman Luke Potter picked up a 6-3 decision in his 133 lbs. bout against freshman John Marriott.
