CONCORDIA, Kan. – Sporting an unblemished 10-0 record following a pair of home wins last week, the Cloud County Community College volleyball team moved up one spot to number 13 in the latest NJCAA Division II volleyball poll which was released on Monday, September 9th.
The-Birds earned a total of 55 points, swapping spots with Iowa Central Community College who fell from 13 to 14 this week. CCCC’s move comes following four-set victories over number-20 ranked Kansas City Kansas Community College in their Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference opener and NJCAA Division I Barton Community College with both matches capping off the first week of home games for Cloud County.
Back atop the poll is two-time defending National Champion Coffeyville Community College as the Red Ravens picked up a three-set sweep over number four-ranked Highland Community College last week with the KJCCC sporting seven top-20 teams and four teams inside the top-10. Johnson County Community College and Highland both remained at three and four, respectively while Fort Scott moved up two spots to number six. Cowley College falls four spots to number 11 after last week’s defeat to Fort Scott while Kansas City Kansas remained at number 20 in the poll.
Cloud County will face its second ranked opponent in as many weeks on Wednesday when the T-Birds travel to Arkansas City, Kansas to take on Cowley College in a match that is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. The match is the first of three this week for CCCC as the T-Birds will be back at home on Friday to host Bethany College JV and Hesston College in a triangular beginning at 3 p.m.
