HESSTON, Kansas — Key points were elusive Friday evening for the Cloud County Community College volleyball team as the T-Birds fell on the road in three tightly-contested sets — 25-20, 25-20 and 25-22 — against non-conference foe, Hesston College.

Sophomore outside hitter Irem Bat had a banner day in defeat, leading the T-Birds (4-18 overall, 1-9 KJCCC) with 14 kills, including eight in the first set.

The 14 kills tied a season high for Bat, who added two solo blocks Friday, and were just two from tying her career high of 16 kills set Sept. 14, 2016 at home against the Larks (9-11 overall).

Fellow sophomore Elizabeth Nobert followed with seven kills, while freshman setter Kamryn Stark finished with 28 assists to pace the offense.

Stark also finished in double-figures in digs with 11. Freshman hitter Giovanna Fundaro led all T-Birds with 13 digs and freshman libero Britt Michaelis added 11 digs, as well.

Cloud County resumes KJCCC action on Monday when it travels to take on No. 19 ranked Colby, which edged the T-Birds 3-1 back on Sept. 20. The match is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
