CONCORDIA, Kansas — The Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference released the All-District teams for softball on Tuesday, with a pair of Cloud County Community College newcomers receiving recognition.
Hogrefe was selected Second-Team as a pitcher and as a hitter after leading the T-Birds with a .325 batting average and in runs scored with 29.
The Lincoln, Nebraska native also hit five home runs, drove in 17 and led the team with seven stolen bases and 19 walks. She struck out just 14 times in 114 at-bats.
In the pitcher's circle, Hogrefe paced the Cloud County staff with a 3.97 earned run average while throwing a team-high 102.2 innings. She also led the T-Birds in strikeouts (67), wins (7), saves (2) and complete games (12) across 26 appearances.
Wells, a left-handed catcher out of Shawnee, completed the battery duo. She shined as Cloud County's primary leadoff hitter this spring, hitting for a .306 average with a home run and 19 RBI.
Her 40 total hits in 129 at-bats were a team high. Well also demonstrated great patience and a high-contact rate at the plate as she too finished with more walks (18) than strikeouts (12).
Behind the plate, Wells posted a .981 fielding percentage while committing just three errors in 156 total chances. She also threw out 13 would-be base stealers; the third best mark among catchers in the KJCCC.
