Dais Malebana Named USTFCCCA NJCAA Men's Runner of the Week

Dais Malebana won his second straight USTFCCCA National Runner of the Week award on Monday.

NEW ORLEANS, La. – For the second consecutive week, Cloud County Community College men’s cross country runner Dais Malebana was named the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association NJCAA Division I Men’s National Athlete of the Week for his performance at the Augustana Twilight Meet in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

The Pretoria, South Africa native won the meet with a time of 18:54.50 to edge out Mason Phillips of NCAA Division II Sioux Falls. Malebana was competing in a 321-runner field on the four-mile course against athletes from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and NJCAA. It marks the second consecutive individual title that Malebana has won, with his first victory coming at the Terry Masterson Twilight Meet.

With his second USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week award, all three runners for Cloud County that have earned the award have done so multiple times. Malebana and Dennis Kiptoo have both won the award twice while Moses Dirane was a four-time National Athlete of the Week in 2016.
