ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. – A goal nine minutes into the game along with a goal nine minutes into the second half would send the Cloud County men's soccer team to a 2-0 road defeat to Cowley Community College in the second round of the NJCAA Region VI Playoffs at Bulldog Stadium in Arkansas City, Kansas on Friday, November 1st.

Seeing their five-match win streak snapped, Cloud County ends their season with a 14-5-1 overall record while the Tigers move on to the Plains District Tournament next week in Wichita, Kansas with a 12-1-2 overall record.

The lone goal of the first half would be scored in the ninth minute as Cowley would find themselves an opportunity by the near post at the goal line as Elluan Martins Gomes put a chip shot over keeper Norberto Vieira to take a 1-0 lead. Cloud County would be limited in their opportunities in the first half as the Tigers would manage to hold on to their 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

In similar fashion to the first half, it would be Cowley who would strike again nine minutes into the second half with Martins Gomes scoring his second goal of the game to put the T-Birds in a 2-0 hole as the game marked just the second third time this season that CCCC has allowed more than one goal. The best opportunity in the game for the T-Birds to find the back of the net would come midway through the second half as Felipe D'Agostini would fire off a shot that would clank off the far post as CCCC would be unable to break through and be held scoreless for just the fourth time this season.

Cowley would hold a 20-15 advantage in shots in the match and would also put five shots on goal compared to just one by Cloud County. The T-Birds would hold a 6-5 advantage in corner kicks as D'Agostini led CCCC with six total shots.
