CONCORDIA, Kansas — On Wednesday, Cloud County Community College sophomore Feliphe Pasetto de Souza found a new place to call home for next season as the midfielder signed with Oklahoma Wesleyan University.
The Eagles are currently one of the premiere men's soccer programs inside the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference and the NAIA ranks, ending the season ranked No. 6 in the nation and finishing second in the KCAC standings.
A chance to continue to play for a winning programs was one of the factors Pasetto de Souza said factored into his decision.
"They are one of the top teams in soccer and I wanted to continue playing," said Pasetto de Souza, who plans on majoring in Sports Management. "Their program has a good history in soccer and the coach wanted me to go there."
Pasetto de Souza had a breakout sophomore season for the T-Birds. After not scoring a goal and finishing with two assists as a freshman, he produced four goals and a team-high seven assists this past fall.
His performance earned him First-Team All-Conference honors in the KJCCC as he helped Cloud County to a 13-5-1 overall record.
"Felipe was a quiet leader out on the field this year, scored big goals when we need him and played excellent in the midfield," said Cloud County head coach, Charles Long. "His fantastic ability to play one-touch, two-touch passing is going to be really hard to replace."
