HESSTON, Kansas — The Cloud County Community College men's soccer team got back to its winning ways on Saturday, going on the road to earn a 4-0 shutout of Hesston College.
Cloud County (7-4 overall, 6-1 KJCCC) had to wait a week to see the field again after a heartbreaking 2-1 loss to Barton back on September 22. The T-Birds were able to rinse out that bad taste with a dominating performance on Saturday that saw them finish with a 24-2 shot advantage over the Larks (1-8-1 overall, 0-6 KJCCC).
The T-Birds got off to a fast start, scoring three first-half goals with the initial score coming with 25:11 remaining on the first half by freshman Djougher Oliveira off an assist from freshman Jean-Pierre Dasylva.
Manuel Marquez followed with his second goal of the season with 2:37 left in the half to put the T-Birds up 3-0.
The T-Birds rounded out their scoring with 33:53 remaining in the second half when sophomore Feliphe Pasetto de Souza found freshman Caio Faro, who powered the shot past the Hesston College keeper for his third goal of the season.
In net, sophomore goalkeeper Charles Albuquerque earned his fifth shutout of the season, stopping the lone shot on goal he faced.
Cloud County will look to build off the victory when it continues its current three-game road swing at 4 p.m. Wednesday against Dodge City Community College.
