DODGE CITY, Kansas — Fog rolled in early Wednesday evening during the conference matchup between the Cloud County Community College men's soccer team and Dodge City Community College, leading to low visibility over the final 45 minutes of action.
What was clear after 90 minutes, though, is the fact that the No. 10 ranked T-Birds are rolling as they cruised to a 4-1 road victory to extend their winning streak to eight games.
"The men were fantastic (Wednesday)," Ross said. "Coaches are never going to be satisfied. I think we should have had a shutout. But the men really played well."
Cloud County (9-1 overall, 7-0 KJCCC) forward Luiz Garcia continued his torrid streak to begin the season with a pair of goals, giving him a team-high 10 on the season and at least one goal in each of the eight games he has played in.
Garcia scored his first goal just six minutes into the game, giving the T-Birds a 1-0 lead that would stand up until half time. He'd add his second goal 9:17 into the second half.
Joining him in the scoring column for the first time this season was freshman forward Guilherme Martins with two goals of his own; the first two goals of Martins' career at Cloud County that polished off Wednesday's 4-1 final.
On net, freshman goalkeeper Charles Albuquerque recorded three saves in picking up his seventh win of the season.
Up next for Cloud County will be a home matchup against Northwest Kansas Technical College at 4 p.m. on Friday.
