Jay Lewis Named KJCCC Men's Basketball Player of the Week

Jay Lewis averaged 29.5 points per game last week, including a career-high 41 against Des Moines Area CC.

CONCORDIA, Kan. – For the first time in his career, Cloud County Community College sophomore basketball player Jay Lewis has been named Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for his performance during the week of November 18-24.

Lewis led Cloud County in scoring in a pair of games at the Iowa Western Reiver Classic, including a career-best 41 points in an 84-70 win over NJCAA Division II Des Moines Area CC on Saturday afternoon. After scoring only eight points in the first half, Lewis would go off in the second-half with 33 points to help the T-Birds overcome an eight point deficit to win by 14. The sophomore would manage to shoot 55 percent from the field in the game and go 15-for-16 from the charity stripe to score his 41 points in just 23 minutes of action.
