CONCORDIA, Kan. – With Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference West Division play set to begin in less than a month, the Cloud County Community College baseball team has been picked to finish fifth in the KJCCC Baseball Preseason Coaches poll released by the KJCCC on Tuesday, February 11th.
After finishing fourth-last year, the T-Birds were picked for a similar finish as last year’s regular-season champion Hutchinson was picked to defend their West Division crown with Colby and Barton rounding out the top three. Butler Community College comes in just ahead of CCCC at number four while Seward County, Garden City, Dodge City, and Pratt round out the nine-team division.
Cloud County is off to a 2-0 start this season after earning a pair of wins against KJCCC East Division foe Fort Scott who was picked to finish third in the preseason East Division Poll. Cowley College was picked once again to win the East Division followed by Johnson County and the Greyhounds in the top three. The rest of the East Division poll saw Kansas City Kansas, Coffeyville, Neosho, Allen, Labette, and Highland make up the nine-team division.
Cloud County will take on three KJCCC East Division schools in non-conference action this season which includes the two games already played against Fort Scott. The T-Birds will play 11 more non-conference games prior to their KJCCC West Division opener which will take place on Thursday, March 5th with a 1 p.m. home doubleheader against Seward County.
