CONCORDIA, Kansas — Cloud County Community College has selected Jolie Kasper to be the next Head Coach of the Thunderbolts dance team heading into the 2017-18 school year.
Kasper is a native of Clay Center, Kansas and a former student at Cloud County in 1993-94. She brings a wealth of experience to the position as she has owned and operated her own dance school, The Dance Company, since 2004.
With 20 years of experience working with high school and youth dancers, the step up to the college ranks is a challenge Kasper said she has wanted to take on.
"I've always wanted to work with the college age group," said Kasper, who added that she'd like to have the Thunderbolts ready for competition in Year One. "I'd like to see the team grow, perhaps double in size, and take them to competitions this year and get them introduced into that world."
Kaspers, who will continue to split her time between the Clay Center, Concordia and Beloit dance studios, will have three assistants on her staff — Janelle Donovan, Kris Farmer and Tiffany Lemmings — to help in the transition.
"Janelle will probably be more on the administrative side, some recruiting. Kris already works here at Cloud, so she's going to be kind of our on campus contact for the girls, and she'll also be as involved as she can with practices and games," Kasper said. "Tiffany and I will be handling the choreography, working with the girls at practice and getting them ready to perform."
Kasper is a graduate of Kansas State University with a bachelor's degree in Accounting. She is married to Phil Kasper and the couple have two children: Jace (19) and Jalyn (16).
